KIM & NIC HAYTON

10TH JUNE 2017

The Lake District and Cumbria provided the venue for this classy and elegant wedding.

Kim and Nic married in Kim's family church, St. Mark's, in Natland, Cumbria. They were joined by family and friends for a beautiful ceremony after which they were piped from the church to their wedding car to make their way to the afternoon reception at the picturesque Askham Hall near Penrith.

The weather was a typical of a British summer's day - raining - but mild! But the rain didn't dampen what was a beautiful wedding day in the Cumbrian countryside.

Kim wore a classic elegant bardot neckline white lace gown with train, complemented by an elegant long-length veil, and silver peep-toe Roland Cartier shoes. Her make-up was very natural and classy and her hair down, loosely curled and pinned to one side. Her bouquet was a pop of colour for a summer wedding.

Bridesmaids wore beautiful pale mint green, Jenny Packham, knee-length dresses and carried posies to match the bride's own bouquet.

Groomsmen wore dark blue suits with buttonholes featuring thistles, a nod to Kim's father's Scottish heritage. A number of the bride's family, including her father Ian, wore kilts for the day and the Scottish theme continued into the evening with a traditional Ceilidh.

Guests arriving at Askham Hall for the afternoon reception were greeted with drinks - and the piper led Kim and Nic into the venue. The rain eased, the sun showed a sign of promise, so guests were invited into the courtyard for group photographs and a confetti shower with beautiful natural dried flower petals

The reception tables were adorned with flowers and guests were given a pouch of sweet-pea seeds to sow in the couple's honour, children provided with an art set to keep them occupied.

Askham Hall kitchen grows a lot of its own produce and sources locally for anything else - and the meal did not disappoint!

The statement wedding cake was four-tiered, each white layer with a different textured covering, and a cute fondant Kim and Nic cake topper provided the personal touch.

After the meal the sun made a proper appearance so the couple took a little time away from guests to take advantage of Askham Hall's stunning gardens for some photo opportunities. The slight breeze caught Kim's veil on a number of occasions to make for some jaw-dropping slow-motion shots - particularly with the early evening sun behind them. Kim and Nic were very comfortable in each other's company and just kissed, smiled and were affectionate with each other - which made for effortless shots.

The couple's first dance was to Queen's "You're My Best Friend" and after a short dance together, they invited family and friends to join them. The band continued immediately with the ceilidh and the dance floor was filled non-stop from the outset.

We extend our warmest congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Hayton, it was an absolute pleasure to film what was a truly gorgeous wedding.
