JULIE & SCOTT SMITHSON

16TH FEBRUARY 2019

You could be forgiven for thinking that Julie & Scott enjoyed a spring or summer wedding, as the weather was simply perfect! As it was, they actually held their winter wedding on a very special day to them both. It was actually six years to the day since they very first got together and Wishing Wells Creative was delighted to capture their wedding video for them!

The venue of choice, Abbey House Hotel & Gardens in Barrow, had actually been on the couples' radar for a while after they had enjoyed a few romantic breaks at the Cumbrian hotel, and although Julie didn't get her proposal from Scott on one of their stays - much to her disappointment - the venue has always held a very special place in their hearts.

Emotions were high on the wedding morning. Just a few days before the wedding, Julie had sadly lost her Grandad Tommy. But he, and other passed family members were honoured in the speeches and with lit candles in their memory.

Julie and Scott both got ready at Abbey House, with the sun streaming through the windows, as we arrived to film their special wedding video.

Julie accompanied by her bridesmaid, friends and mum, was pampered in the Princess Suite, with Misha Holden and Hayley Fairclough on respective hair and make-up duties.

Meanwhile, the boys: Scott, his best man Adam, Julie's son Kyle, the couple's own son - page boy Ethan, and Julie's Dad Brian got dressed into their Slaters suits down the hall.

Julie's beautiful lace St Patrick's dress, from Love Story Bridal Boutique, featured a hidden blue ribbon to use later on to bustle her dress - a lovely little touch for her 'something blue'.

She accessorised with a veil and hid a silver sixpence in her shoe. Her beautifully simple bouquet featured a favourite of Julie's - eucalyptus leaves - and was expertly tied by Bluebells and Daisies.

With everyone dressed and the wedding videography well underway, Scott went downstairs to greet their wedding guests and Julie was visited for a last minute hug from her son Kyle.

And, when her Dad walked into the room and saw her in her wedding dress for the first time, it was a truly wonderful moment to capture for the video.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Great Hall, where huge blossom trees had been installed to frame an aisle dotted with candles, while harpist, Mary Dunsford, played beautiful melodies for the assembled party.

Scott was emotional waiting his bride was to appear, but he was supported by his brother Adam and it was a moment worth the wait!

After the ceremony, with the weather being so glorious, the wedding party headed out onto the terrace for drinks and photographs with the fabulous Rachel Kenyon Photography. Guests were also treated to the magical talents of Andrew Dean Magician.

Scott & Julie provided a sweet table and a DIY guest book and photobooth for their friends and family to leave messages of congratulations to the happy couple.

While the guests relaxed in the bar and gardens, we, alongside Rachel, whisked Julie & Scott down to the Abbey gatehouse ruins, on the edge of the hotel grounds, for a stunning couples' video and photo shoot.

The ensuing speeches were both touching and funny, and after the meal Scott and Julie presented gifts to key members of their party.

Guests then retreated to the bar area where Andrew Dean held a balloon modelling demonstration - which some found easier than others!

And Des Grant arrived to set up for an epic party...

The couple were welcomed into the evening reception with a dancing guard of honour and enjoyed their first dance overlooked by all of their guests, before parents were invited onto the dance floor to join them.

Julie & Scott then cut the hand-decorated wedding cake, which had been arranged by Scott's mum.

Party host Des then pulled out all the stops, with fancy dress and celebrity face masks making their way onto the dance floor - we even witnessed a flossing Barack Obama and a full rendition of Baby Shark - which the adults seemed to enjoy more than the children!

It was a pleasure to film this wedding day and I wish Julie & Scott a truly wonderful marriage together.
